Last year I was invited to take part in the Elevate Project, organised by Kelly Salchow MacArthur. She sent the same poster to a number of artists and designers to alter it in any way they saw fit.

Here are some of my favourites

And here is mine

Down in the tube station you can find inspiration

I was in St John's Wood tube station the other night waiting for tube and I saw these

I just love the way the layers of old posters have been ripped off to reveal the black background.  The second image is a bit blurry but the tube was coming so had to take it a bit quick, I like to think it adds to the effect.

London Art Fair

I will be exhibiting once again at the London Art Fair with Jaggedart, stand G46.

In celebration of that I thought I would show you some new work that I've been making since Christmas.  Some of which will be at the London Art Fair.  They are so hot off the press I'm still working on the titles.

I had been wondering for a while about photographing my work in their frames.  I'm not sure I'm totally happy but I think it gives a good idea of how the look as the finished article, let me know what you think.

A different view of my birds

I worked on a commission before Christmas and thought I'd share some photos that I took, looking through it to show how the birds stand away from the backing and how the shadows are created.

Here are a couple of the birds from the usual direction.

New Year New Birds

The Christmas/New Year period has been a bit hectic for me, with commissions to finish, commissions to start and work to get ready for exhibitions, so somehow this is my first post in a while.

With all this new work to create it was time to find some new birds.  I found this book tucked away on one of my shelves that I had totally forgotten about.

It was published in 1965 and is full of beautiful paintings of British native birds.  So expect a lot of work inspired by this over the next few months.  I was wondering about cutting some of my favourite pictures out of the book and framing them up.

Here are some of my favourites today.

Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler and Whitethroat

Jay - I had a pair of these in my garden when it was snowy
