How to install a very large piece of work

I was recently asked to make a very large bird installation for a client.  The frame was 270cm x 140cm, the biggest frame I've ever worked with.  It presented quite a few difficulties but as you will see from the finished results it looks amazing.

Jayhawk, who are specialist art movers got the work in the house and installed it.  It was amazing to watch them go about their work.  It took 4 of them to get the work in.  The piece had to go in by the first floor window as it was too big to go up the stairs. They used a truck with a moving platform raised to its highest height and a ladder on top.  Which sounds a bit haphazard but was very effective.

waiting....

here it comes

nearly there...

still a bit more to go

its in
For some reason I didn't take any pictures of the hanging process, but here is the piece up.

In the loop

I discovered these gorgeous cards by Loop, they are based in Philadelphia and are seriously eco conscious.  I am a sucker for hand drawn patterns so their stuff really appeals to me. Check out their website for other products welcometoloop.com.  The cards are available in Paperchase in London, though I'm sure there are other stockists.

Origin 2010 - the final verdict

Its a couple of weeks since Origin finished, the dust has settled and lots of exciting opportunities are coming in more of which as they come up.  I thought you might like to see some pictures of the finished stand.

It was a great experience and thanks to all those who came along and sent me good wishes.  I do hope I get the chance to do it again.  It was great to meet so many amazing people.  As an artist you spend so much time working alone in your studio, so its great to get out once in a while and chat with people.
